Marcum felt tingling and numbness in his right hand during a 7-6 loss at Milwaukee on Saturday night, when he allowed 11 hits and five runs in five innings. He had experienced similar symptoms in his previous start and during spring training, and had an MRI last week. Marcum met with a hand specialist this week in St. Louis, where he will have surgery Monday. The operation will be performed by Dr. Robert Thompson, who repaired a clot and damaged artery in teammate Dillon Gees shoulder last summer.
