LAS VEGAS -- The Nevada State Athletic Commission has fined Nate Diaz $50,000 for his actions during a UFC 202 press conference on Aug. 17.The amount represents 2.5 percent of Diazs disclosed purse of $2 million for a welterweight bout against Conor McGregor at UFC 202 on Aug. 20. The sanctions were part of a settlement agreement between Diaz and the NSAC executive director. The commission unanimously approved the settlement on Thursday.Diaz, 31, has also agreed to 50 hours of community service, which is to be completed prior to Dec. 1, 2017.During the UFC 202 fight week, Diaz attended a press conference at the MGM Grand Hotel to promote his rematch against McGregor. After McGregor showed up late, Diaz decided to suddenly get up and leave early.As he exited the theater, Diaz started to yell back and forth with McGregor. He then threw a water bottle in the Irishmans direction, which led to McGregor returning fire with full bottles and cans from the stage area.In October, McGregor appeared before the NSAC via phone and was fined $150,000, or 5 percent of his record-breaking $3 million disclosed purse. The fine was to be split in half, with $75,000 going to the state of Nevada and the other $75,000 earmarked for a public service announcement.McGregor has since appealed those sanctions by filing a petition for judicial review in Nevada court. That civil case is still open.Diaz (19-11) lost to McGregor at UFC 202 via majority decision. He has not fought since, saying he is only interested in a trilogy bout with McGregor at this time.
