I thought he was going to be tested when he came on, but he gutsed it out and it was probably the longest Test hes ever played. When you think about it, hkers usually come off with about 60 minutes gone. To get 78 minutes, or however long it was, was tremendous.If he had gone down, which was on the cards, they would have had to go to uncontested scrums.Where do the Australians turn to now? And how do the All Blacks improve on that?It is a great position for the All Blacks to be in, and a deliberate knockout punch this weekend will be the icing on the cake for New Zealand fans. But backing up a gd performance like that is tough.Its like a boxing match where youve got someone on the ropes and youve just got to keep going; you cant back down. The Australians have taken a beating and theyve only got two places to go: they either step up and perform, or they remain on the canvas.From what we saw on Saturday night, Im not sure whether they have the game plan or the answers. Its contagious when your conductor, and thats how he wants to play, results in old fellows like Jerome Kaino charging down kicks, regathering and scoring.Barrett just seems to revel in that All Blacks environment; he backs up his performance week in and week out. Steve Hansen has said in the past that he selects players or drops them on how they play for the All Blacks and not on how they play anywhere else, and hes so right.Players can go back to their franchises, and for whatever reason things dont go their way or they dont perform; but if theyve always performed in an All Blacks jersey then that level of trust ensures they wont let that jersey down.
