The attorneys for Joe Mixon released a surveillance video on Friday that shows the Sners?star running back punching a female Oklahoma student in 2014.The video shows Mixon punching Amelia Molitor, fracturing four bones in her face, during an altercation at a sandwich shop near Oklahomas campus in Norman. He was charged with a misdemeanor at the time of the incident, and the university suspended him for the entire 2014 season. The video was released after the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters sued for its access, prompting the Oklahoma Supreme Court to rule earlier this month that the city of Norman should release it. The city had until Dec. 26 to either release the video or file an appeal.?Mixons attorneys, however, said the running back asked that they make public the video before the citys deadline.?Mr. Mixon asked us to once again say he is sorry for the way he acted that night, a statement through his attorneys said. He has publicly apologized to Ms. Molitor, her friends, his family, teammates, and the University. He hopes that his voluntary release of these recordings will help put this matter to rest. The university issued a statement on Friday night, shortly after the video was released:University officials were made aware of the content of the video prior to taking action with respect to Joe Mixon [in 2014], the schl said. Based on that information, the university immediately suspended and removed Mr. Mixon from the ftball team for one year, during which high standards of conduct were expected and maintained. It was made clear to Mr. Mixon at the time of his suspension that violence against women will not go unpunished at the university. Coach [Bob] Stps has been proactive in presenting training for his team aimed at preventing such behavior in the future. Sensitivity training in the area of violence has been intensified and best practices will continue to be implemented. Mr. Mixon has apologized for his actions, and the university hopes that it is an indication that he has learned from his mistakes. We are an educational institution, where we hope young people will learn from their mistakes and chart a better future course.Mixon issued a formal apology last month but also suggested that racial slurs were hurled at him, which he said initiated the incident.I was not drinking, Mixon said in the apology, which was sent to The Oklahoman. I have never had a drink in my life. At the end of the night, a group of apparently drunk people started harassing us. Some of my teammates were wise enough to leave. I did not, and I am sorry.Last week, in a statement released to The Oklahoman, attorneys for Molitor called the narrative that she spit on, punched and hurled racial slurs at a cornered man false. Her attorneys asked a judge to suppress the release of the video, arguing it alone wouldnt tell the full story.According to Mixons attorneys, however, Molitor has since given the OK to release the video.?Molitor has a pending civil lawsuit against the running back.Mixon, 20, pleaded guilty to the charge without making an admission of guilt. He received a one-year deferred sentence and was required to perform 100 hours of community service and undergo counseling.Stps was asked in 2015 why he did not kick Mixon off the team.In our situation, we felt this [the suspension] was the right way to proceed, Stps said last year. In the end, we felt that hes been disciplined. He was removed totally from all team activities from that point on. And hes earned a way to be back to have an opportunity for a second chance to redeem himself with strict guidelines that go with it.In 11 games for the Sners this season, Mixon has rushed for a team-leading 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns. SEATTLE -- Andreas Ivanschitz knew a game like this was coming for the Seattle Sounders. It came in a big way Wednesday night against the best team in MLS.Clint Dempsey, Ivanschitz and Jordan Morris scored during a 15-minute span of the first half and the Sounders routed league-leading FC Dallas 5-0 to snap a four-game winless streak.Joevin Jones and Cristian Roldan added second-half goals for the Sounders (6-10-2), who started the night with the lowest goal total in the league (14).Ivanschitz, an Austrian midfielder, helped set up the first goal when his shot led to a Seattle penalty kick, then scored the second, and assisted on the fifth. It was a perfect night. It feels great for us, Ivanschitz said. After so many games where we ended up losing and were pretty disappointed because we played great and didnt score, it was a frustrating time for us. But this win tonight is well deserved because we started pretty well, we were on our front ft, we pressed them pretty high, and we finished up our chances.Dempsey scored in the 6th minute when he drilled a penalty kick past goalkeeper Chris Seitz for his third goal of the year. The PK was set up when defender Maynor Figueroa was called for an intentional hand ball on a shot by Ivanschitz just outside of the 6-yard box and shown the red card. Dempseys kick went high into the right side of the net, with Seitz leaping the opposite way. That halted a 321-minute shutout streak for Dallas (11-6-4).Seattle had not scored on its home field since a 2-0 victory against San Jose on May 7 -- a drought of 277 minutes.Ivanschitz increased the lead to 2-0 in the 18th minute. Osvaldo Alonso sent a long through ball toward the top of the penalty area. Ivanschitz and Dallas Atiba Harris both went for it, Ivanschitz got there first and chipped a shot overr the onrushing Seitz and watched it bounce into the net for his third of the season.ddddddddddddJust four minutes later, Morris pushed it to 3-0 with his team-leading seventh. Dempsey sent a ball into the box, and Morris met it at the top right corner of the 6, sending it into the far left corner. It was very important to have those moments to have a gd start at home, Ivanschitz said. In the last games, we always had the first chances in the game, but didnt score.Jones scored in the 61st, his second of the sesaon, followed by Roldan in the 73rd. Roldan, who played his college ball at nearby University of Washington, notched his first MLS goal.We always felt if we got a goal, maybe those fldgates would open up, said Sounders coach Sigi Schmid, whose team hadnt scored that many since a 6-2 win against Columbus in August 2011. And they opened up a little bit for us today.Dallas coach Oscar Pareja, whose team played its second game in six nights on the road, didnt start three of his leading scorers: Michael Barrios (six goals), Fabian Castillo (five) and Maximilano Urruti (four). Barrios came in to start the second half, and Castillo entered in the 61st minute. We needed to chse tonight. We have a game in three days at home, and we just came from San Jose, Pareja said. We have a (U.S.) Open Cup game in the middle of next week, and thats an important tournament for us, and after that, we have Colorado away.Seattle had a lot of intensity and did a lot of gd things, Pareja added. And for those moments, we couldnt find the rhythm of the game. We have to give them credit. The Sounders also finished with 10 men after Dempsey was sent off in the 34th minute. ' ' '
