HARRISON, N.J. -- Whatever joy the New York Red Bulls felt about moving into a first-place tie with Sporting KC was overshadowed by the opportunity they missed in their scoreless tie against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night. New York found little satisfaction in a game dominated by strong midfield defence and outstanding goalkeeping from the Red Bulls Luis Robles and Philadelphias Zac MacMath. With bodies moving up and clogging the middle third of the field, space for passing and solid scoring chances came at a premium. For some, like Red Bulls midfielders Dax McCarty and Tim Cahill, the outcome felt more like failure than advancement for their 11-8-6 team, which hasnt scored in two games. "Tonight, I feel like we dropped two points," said McCarty, whose bullet-like header in the final seconds of stoppage time found MacMaths abdomen just inches from the Union goal line. "It doesnt feel like we got a point." Cahill added that the Red Bulls pace was t slow, that they played into Philadelphias hands even though they controlled the ball for 65 per cent of the game. "To feel the way we feel, its a bit mixed," Cahill said. "It shows us where we are as a club. We were t slow, 100 per cent. In a game like that, somebody has to do something to change it. We played at 70 per cent and still couldnt win." The Red Bulls went into the game lking for three points against a rival who has yet to beat them at home. The Union are 0-5-1 lifetime in Red Bull Arena, so avoiding a loss and remaining in third place with 38 points, a point behind New York and KC, was sufficient for coach John Hackworth. "The atmosphere tonight was fantastic," Hackworth said. "It had the feel of a playoff game. We were trying to come in here and get our first point. With the playoffs coming, theres great implications to that." Philadelphia, 10-7-8, came close to giving up a winning goal in the 63rd minute, but was bailed out when MacMath leaped out in front of Peguy Luyindula and grabbed Cahills header near the goalmouth. MacMath had a strong game from the beginning, as the MLS co-leader with nine clean sheets contributed two huge saves in the first half. Sebastian LeToux nearly put the Union on the board in the 73rd minute when the midfielder blasted a shot off the crossbar. He also had a point-blank chance in the 80th minute that Robles stopped dead with a fingertip save. Red Bulls midfielder Jonny Steele nearly scored in the 79th minute with a shot that went inches wide of the right post. The Red Bulls had the best chance of the opening half in the 34th minute on Fabian Espindolas header off a feed from Steele. But MacMath got his hand on it and lifted it over the crossbar. MacMath saved the Union in the 29th minute, t, when he came out in front of Thierry Henry to grab McCartys cross, thwarting what would have been an easy header for the Red Bulls captain and scoring leader. Still, the Red Bulls wound up with a share of first place, even only till Sunday night when Sporting plays struggling San Jose. "Im happy about first place," Red Bulls coach Mike Petke said. "Im not happy about the game. But its a point and well take it and move on." kiestore.com/Redskins-Doug-Williams-Jersey/" target="_blank">Doug Williams Redskins Jersey . -- PGA TOUR Canada member Steve Saunders tk a three-stroke lead Saturday in the Web. kiestore.com/Redskins-Montez-Sweat-Jersey/" target="_blank">Montez Sweat Youth Jersey . TOKYO -- The first woman to climb Mount Everest didnt stop there.Japanese mountaineer Junko Tabei, who died Thursday at 77, devoted her adult life to scaling peaks, climbing the tallest mountains in more than 70 countries. Her philosophy was to live life to the fullest. I want to climb even more mountains, she said in a 1991 interview with The Associated Press, 16 years after conquering Everest. To think, It was great, and then die.To do so required defying stereotypes, and a supportive husband, in a country that thought a womans place was in the home. She founded the Ladies Climbing Club in 1969 with the slogan Lets go on an overseas expedition by ourselves, and reached the summit of Everest on May 16, 1975, as the leader of the climbing party of an all-female Japanese team. Most Japanese men of my generation would expect the woman to stay at home and clean house, the mother of two said in the 1991 interview. In 1992, she became the first woman to complete the Seven Summits, reaching the highest peaks of the seven continents.Tabei died of cancer at a hospital outside of Tokyo, Japanese media reported Saturday.ddddddddddddShe was born in 1939 in Miharu, a hilly farming town in Fukushima prefecture about 230 kilometers (140 miles) north of Tokyo. Her first summit was nearby Mount Nasu with her teacher in the fourth grade.Later in life, she became concerned about the degradation of Everest, completing masters studies in 2000 at Kyushu University in southern Japan on the garbage problem as the famous mountain was opened to more climbers.Everest has become t crowded. It needs a rest now, she said at a 2003 parade in Nepal to mark the 50th anniversary of the first successful ascent of the peak by Sir Edmund Hillary. She kept climbing even after being diagnosed with cancer four years ago, Japanese public broadcaster NHK said. Her goal was to climb the tallest mountain in all 195 countries of the world. She fell short but ticked off four more as recently as 2015, according to her website: Niger, Luxembourg, Belgium and Oman. ' ' '
