Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Ben Bishop returned to the ice last week for the first time after rehabbing a high ankle and shin sprain that he suffered in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins.Bishop, 29, told ESPN.com hes feeling better and is preparing to represent Team USA at the World Cup of Hockey this September in Toronto.Bishop, who was a Vezina Trophy finalist last season, helped lead the Lightning back to the conference finals, but he suffered a left-leg injury and missed the remainder of that series, which Pittsburgh won in seven games before going on to beat the San Jose Sharks in the Stanley Cup finals.Bishops backup, Andrei Vasilevskiy, was solid the rest of the way and proved he could play at that level. Bishop has one year and $5.95 million remaining on his contract. Hes set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2017. Meanwhile, Vasilevskiy, 21, agreed this offseason to a three-year contract extension that will pay him an average of $3.5 million annually. At this point, Bishop is focused on his health, the World Cup and being ready for the 2016-17 NHL season. The Denver native did not discuss rumors about his status with the Lightning -- there has been talk he would be traded to free up cap space, especially given Vasilevskiys play in the playoffs -- but he did talk about captain Steven Stamkos re-signing with Tampa for eight years.ESPN.com: First, earlier in the week you revealed your Team USA mask for the World Cup of Hockey. Tell me about the mask.Ben Bishop: It turned out really well. DaveArt [David Gunnarsson] actually does it over in Sweden and weve had this glow-in-the-dark theme going [with Lightning mask] the last few years, so we might as well stick with it and it turned out really gd.ESPN.com: How long did it take?Bishop: He can do it pretty quick, but there was no rush with this one just because we had time. He can do it in a couple of weeks if you really need him to.ESPN.com: How did you come up with the design idea?Ben Bishop: We usually just email back and forth but hes the artist, so I let his mind do most of the work.ESPN.com: How is your leg injury and where are you with your offseason workouts?Ben Bishop: Its going gd. The leg is feeling better and its getting stronger every day. Im getting ready to start skating sn ... and get back on the ice and doing that side of things. We have about a month until we go, so Ill start off slow and pick it up in the next month and be ready for training camp for the World Cup.ESPN.com: Now that youre focused on your preparation for the World Cup, what does this opportunity mean to you?Ben Bishop: Its a great opportunity. Obviously, its not new but its a little bit newer with the World Cup coming back and I think everybody is excited that its going to be on ESPN. Its a whole different feel to it; its not another NHL season, or the Olympics, its a brand new thing coming out again and I think everybody is excited. Everybodys going to be fresh, its going to be gd hockey and its in a great market in Toronto. There are so many gd things coming out of it and Im excited to be a part of it.ESPN.com: At least on paper, Team USA already has an identity, so going into a tournament like the World Cup, what do you think of the teams chances?Ben Bishop: We obviously have a great roster. When you lk around, they did a pretty cl thing with Team Europe and Team North America, and that will add much more excitement to the tournament. Every team is going to be stacked and gd and I dont think theres going to be any bad games out there, so its going to be fun. Its going to be great for the fans. Its going to be exciting hockey. Its at the beginning of the year, so everybodys fresh and ready to go. Its going to be high-tempo and Im just lking forward to being a part of it.ESPN.com: Stamkos re-signed with Tampa for eight years, so what does that mean for his teammates and the organization?Ben Bishop: Its exciting. Hes worked his butt off ever since he got to Tampa. Hes been the face of that franchise since he got there and hes rode through some of the tough times, and hes been through some of the high times. Hes our captain and Im really glad that they were able to get something worked out. Hes able to come back and hopefully be able to maybe retire a Lightning. Hes done a lot for that organization and its nice to see him stick with it.ESPN.com: In todays era, there arent many players who play with one organization for their entire career. So what do you think of Stamkos having that opportunity in Tampa?Ben Bishop: I think its great. Its kind of a give-and-take thing. You lk at Stammer, maybe he tk a little less money to stay there and he likes the organization, he likes everything about Tampa. Both sides have to be willing to work towards something like that to happen, but I think its really cl. You lk at Shane Doan in Phoenix and how many years hes been there, its just nice to see guys stick with it. You have to have both sides working for the same goal and obviously theyre both tremendous players. I mean, who doesnt want to have Steven Stamkos on your team? Im just glad hes on ours.ESPN.com: What has your offseason been like?Ben Bishop: Im getting better, training and working out. Ive been doing some physical therapy, just getting healthy again. Im at that age where theres lots of weddings, so it seems like theres a wedding every weekend that youve got to go to, but its fun. Its fun to relax a little bit and see some family. Like I said, Im going to start skating and turn it back up a notch and get ready for the World Cup. Cheap Air Max 90 Ireland . 1 position. PHILADELPHIA -- Francisco Rodriguez and the Milwaukee Brewers had a little extra help holding off the Phillies. Second-base umpire Mike Estabrk called pinch-runner Kyle Kendrick out on a pickoff even though shortstop Jean Segura tagged him without the ball and the Brewers held on to beat Philadelphia 4-3 on Saturday. Kendrick was the second out of the inning, and the next batter doubled before Rodriguez was able to nail down his third straight save. After the game, crew chief Tom Hallion told a pl reporter that it was an incorrect call after lking at replay. "The ball goes in the glove and comes out of the glove with Kendrick diving back in and with Segura diving back for the ball," Hallion told a pl reporter. "Obviously, Mike was in the right position to make a pickoff play call like that. But the way that the play developed, the ball comes free and rolls right in Seguras bare hand and he comes up shows him the ball." Before the ninth, Jonathan Lucroy homered and Wily Peralta tossed seven strong innings for Milwaukee. After Rodriguez intentionally walked Domonic Brown, he retired Michael Martinez on a groundout to end the game. Kendrick went right to the video rm after the play and said he was "just mad" when he saw the replay. "He was in a bad position to see that, but that was the game," Kendrick said. "We got some breaks again today," Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said. "This game is fun because youre always trying to figure it out. Its frustrating because you cant do anything about it. It really isnt fair." Peralta (4-6) entered on a four-game losing streak but had one of his best outings of the season, surrendering two runs and eight hits with six strikeouts and a walk. Peralta successfully pitched out of trouble throughout and stranded runners at second in four of his seven innings, including when he struck out Brown with his final pitch in the seventh. Brown had 12 homers in May with six in his last five games. He wentt 1-for-4 with a single and a pair of strikeouts Saturday.dddddddddddd Freddy Galvis homered and Hernandez went 3-for-5 with a double for Philadelphia, which lost its third straight and fifth in seven games. The Phillies dropped to 8-24 when scoring three runs or less. Galvis homered to lead off the ninth before Jimmy Rollins, who didnt start due to a sore ft, followed with a pinch-hit single. Kendrick ran for Rollins and went to second on Ben Reveres sacrifice bunt, but was picked off. "Its unfortunate, but its one of those plays that if any one of us -- any umpire -- had seen the lse ball, we certainly would have come in and helped Mike out with that," Hallion said. "The problem was that I dont think anybody saw the ball. I dont think anyone from the Phillies dugout or the Brewers dugout or Kendrick knew that the ball was on the ground." After the Kendrick out, Rodriguez intentionally walked Brown to put runners on first and second with two outs before getting Michael Martinez to ground out to end the game. "Its kind of how things have been going for us," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. Tyler Cloyd (1-2) gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk in seven innings. Delmon Young was responsible for two of the Brewers first three runs, as his throwing error in the second inning allowed Lucroy to score after Schafers RBI single that also scored Aramis Ramirez and gave Milwaukee a 2-0 lead. Kevin Frandsens RBI groundout in the fourth pulled the Phillies within 2-1. But the Brewers got the run back in the fifth when Segura tripled for a 3-1 lead. Philadelphia closed within 3-2 on Erik Kratzs RBI single in the sixth, but Lucroy homered to left with two outs in the eighth off reliever Mike Adams. It was the third homer in two games for Lucroy, who went 5-for-5 with two homers and a double in Fridays 8-5 win over Philadelphia.
